A bump on the shoulder on enrollment day.
A glance shared in the midst of strangers.
A scowl from her, a terrified look from him.
She stepped closer and his intended apology rose to a squeak.
“Watch it, pipsqueak!”
He flinched and fell over backwards.
The briefest look of worry passed by her eyes before she held out a hand to him and started giggling.
“Get up. I was just kidding!”
She pulled him up as soon as he took her hand.
It did not take her a minute to decide she’d call him Glasses instead.
